Non alcoholic mulled wine is a beverage enjoyed by many all over the world. A mulled wine is a traditional drink made mostly for the winter season in different parts of Europe. Mulled wine is usually made from wine and a mixture of spices. They are also served hot and are ideal for consumption during the harsh winter season. It can also be used as a way to extend the life of the wine. A nice hot mulled wine is one of the best things to have to get through the bitter cold in the long winter season.
Red wine is used mostly for making a mulled wine. But in some countries like Romania, they do use white wine also. Therefore it really depends on your taste. When making mulled wine, it is very important to never use expensive wine. This is because expensive wine will always overpower the rich fragrance of the spices and will completely destroy the taste. Cinnamon, cloves, ginger, allspice, cardamom and nutmeg are the different spices used for making mulled wine. But the alcohol content in these beverages is not favorable for every one as some like their beverages to be clean and zero alcohol percent. A non alcoholic mulled wine would be the perfect choice for these people.
A non alcoholic mulled wine is made by using grape juice as a base. This way you won’t have to use wine. While a non alcoholic drink will never taste the same as an alcoholic mulled wine, it is very unique in its own right. You will need gal jugs and so you should find a local winery that sell gal jugs. There are many important ingredients used to make this beverage. They are 2 gallons of grape juice, 7 cups of water, 3 cups sugar, 7 whole cloves, 14 1/3 cinnamon sticks, 3 5/8 whole orange zest, 3 5/8 whole lemon zest , 3 5/8 crushed nutmeg seed and 9 cups lemon juice.
After you have found that local winery that sell gal jugs and after you have bought the necessary items, comes the brewing part. First you will need to heat the water and add sugar, cloves, cinnamon, nutmeg and zest. Then you have to boil the mixture for about 5 minutes after which you should allow it to simmer down for another 5 minutes. Then strain the syrup into the container and add the citrus juice. Heat the beverage until it starts bubbling. Then add the grape juice and let it simmer for some time. Your tasty beverage is done.
Take a nice whiff of your hot beverage and let yourself get enthralled by the rich aroma of the spices. After making the beverage, all you need to do is pour some of that non alcoholic mulled wine into a glass to enjoy your winter delight.
